Chandigarh International Airport is a customs airport〔http://aai.aero/allAirports/CHDBrochureJune2014(Front).pdf〕 in Chandigarh, India. It is located about 9 km south of the city centre, operates as a civil enclave at the Chandigarh Air Force Station of the Indian Air Force and uses the airforce's runway for civilian flights. It is listed as one of the major airports in north India. A total of 26 domestic flights connect Chandigarh to different destinations in India. On 11 September 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal which would be used for both domestic and international flights. Punjab & Haryana each have 24.5% stake and the Airports Authority of India holds the rest of 51% stake.〔(Chandigarh international airport website )〕 ==International civil terminal== A new International Terminal for civilians has been built at Mohali.〔()〕 The domestic terminal will now be used as only a flying club. Construction of three link taxiways, parallel taxi track, cargo complex and hangars of flying club activities and runway upgradation has been completed. The terminal has five aero-bridges, construction of apron for parking three in contact and ten remote parking stands for aircraft. The departures are on the first floor and arrivals on the ground floor. The first phase terminal covering 53,000 sq metre has a capacity of 1,600 passengers at a time and a parking space for 500 vehicles. The project has Punjab, Airport Authority of India and Haryana as partners. The main purpose of the International airport is to reduce pressure on Delhi Airport. The International terminal is located on land in Jheorheri village, near Mohali.
